Overview

Pixso brings interface design, prototyping, whiteboarding and developer handoff into one shared workspace for product teams. It suits designers and developers who need to collaborate across those stages, especially teams weighing import compatibility or private deployment. Its breadth is appealing, but the Free plan’s tight project and file limits make it better for evaluation than for an active team’s long-term workspace.

Key features

Design and prototyping share a file, with comments and real-time collaboration supporting review without splitting the work across separate tools. Whiteboards extend the workspace to brainstorming and summaries: Whiteboard AI can generate mind maps, brainstorming sessions and information summaries, while editor AI supports design editing. These capabilities make Pixso relevant to teams that want ideation and interface work together; the facts do not establish the scope of AI editing or any ongoing AI-credit allowance outside the lifetime plans.

Import support for Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure and SVG gives teams several routes to bring existing work into Pixso. Compatibility with Figma plugins, including importing plugin code to run, may help teams carry over parts of an existing workflow. It does not, by itself, guarantee that every file or plugin will behave identically after import.

For handoff, Dev view lets developers inspect specifications, copy code references, and export supported code and assets. Design tokens, version history, asset handoff and code snippets broaden that developer-facing toolkit. The OpenAPI has public-cloud and private-deployment endpoints and enterprise application credentials, a useful foundation for teams integrating Pixso with their own systems.

Pricing

The Free plan is 0.00 USD per free and includes unlimited viewer seats and draft files, alongside three design files and three whiteboard files. In practice, its one-project-per-team limit, three design files per project and three pages per design file constrain a team’s active work; treat it as a trial space or a fit for very small, contained projects rather than a scalable shared library.

Team seats are billed monthly: Collaborator costs 4.00 USD per month, Developer 8.00 USD per month and Creator 12.00 USD per month. Each includes unlimited projects, files, pages and version history, plus private files. Those remove the Free plan’s core capacity constraints, but the supplied plan details do not distinguish the three roles by included capabilities, so teams should not assume which seat types they need based on the names alone.

Enterprise seats are billed annually: Collaborator is 90.00 USD per year, Developer 120.00 USD per year and Creator 280.00 USD per year. Each includes advanced permissions, member and seat management, collaboration logs, SSO and custom domains. These controls are aimed at organizations with administrative and access-management needs, not simply teams seeking more files. Enterprise pricing also includes audit logs and permission control.

Lifetime purchase costs 240.00 USD per once for one team member, or 720.00 USD per once for three. Both include one professional team workspace, unlimited projects and folders, unlimited editable design and whiteboard files, and 500 total AI credits per member. The three-member purchase includes 1,500 total AI credits. This can suit a fixed-size team preferring a one-time purchase, but the stated lifetime benefits are tied to one workspace and a defined member count. On-premise has custom pricing and includes deployment, custom feature development, core data encryption and a dedicated technical consultant.

Platforms

Pixso supports Android, API, macOS, self-hosted, web and Windows. Its desktop app requires Windows 10 64-bit or above, or macOS 12 Monterey or above. Private deployment options include single-node and clustered setups across intranet, private-cloud and public-cloud environments, with one-to-one service, technical consulting, deployment support and online training for private deployments. That makes deployment choice a meaningful advantage for organizations with infrastructure requirements, though it adds a different implementation and support profile from a straightforward web workspace.

Who it's for

Pixso is a sensible choice for product teams that want designers, developers, product managers and other teammates working in the same design-and-review space, and for teams moving work from common design tools or requiring private deployment. It is less compelling for a team that needs a generous free workspace, or one choosing a paid seat specifically for a sharply defined role distinction: the monthly seat tiers have different prices but the included features are presented identically.

Pros and cons

Pros: Design, prototyping, whiteboarding, feedback and handoff sit in one workspace, reducing the need to separate those activities across tools.
Pros: Imports for Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure and SVG, plus Figma plugin compatibility, give teams concrete options for bringing existing work along.
Pros: Dev view combines specification inspection with code references and supported code and asset exports, making handoff a first-class part of the product.
Pros: Private deployment methods and enterprise access controls address needs that a web-only collaboration tool may not cover.
Cons: Free permits just one project per team, three design files per project, three pages per design file and three whiteboard files per project; that is a narrow ceiling for ongoing team use.
Cons: The three monthly Team seat prices rise from 4.00 USD to 12.00 USD per month without distinct included capabilities stated for each, leaving role-based purchasing hard to assess.
Cons: Lifetime purchases specify one or three members and finite AI-credit totals, so they are less flexible for a growing team or sustained AI use.

Alternatives

Choose Figma Dev Mode if broad platform coverage, including extension, iOS and Linux, is a priority; its Starter plan includes unlimited drafts, though access to Figma products is limited. Consider Justinmind if a free plan with one project, unlimited screens and viewers, and interactive input forms better matches a focused wireframing workflow. Builder Visual Copilot is another freemium option, with a Free plan that includes one user, 60 monthly Agent Credits, an admin-only role and project hosting.

Other options include Marvel, Penpot, ProtoPie and Supernova. For category browsing, see Developer Handoff Software, Design Collaboration Software and Game UI Design Software. Handoff is another free option.

Verdict

Choose Pixso if your product team wants design, collaboration and developer handoff together, especially when file imports or private deployment matter. Its strongest case is the combination of shared design work, practical handoff tools and deployment flexibility. Look elsewhere if your team needs substantial free capacity or clear, role-specific distinctions between monthly seats before committing.
