Overview

ChatbotX is an open-source chatbot platform for building and operating bots across multiple channels. It combines a visual flow builder and AI bot generation with knowledge-base answers and human handoff, covering both automated interactions and escalation to people. Its freemium pricing and self-hosted deployment option give teams a choice between starting without a subscription and running the system on their own infrastructure.

ChatbotX says users control their data and system, and can self-host, white-label, and resell the platform to clients. Team collaboration tools and a shared omnichannel inbox are part of the offering. These capabilities make deployment and operational control central considerations for teams evaluating the product, alongside channel coverage and message limits.

Key features

Bot creation: A visual flow builder supports structured bot design, while AI bot generation offers another way to create bots.
Answering and escalation: Bots can answer from a knowledge base and hand conversations off to a human.
Channel coverage: Supported channels include WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, Zalo, TikTok, Email, and Webchat.
Team operations: The platform provides collaboration tools and shared omnichannel inboxes. Team-member allowances vary by plan.
Developer connections: Integrations include API, CLI, MCP, OpenClaw, n8n, and Make.
Deployment and resale: ChatbotX can be self-hosted, white-labeled, and resold to clients.

Usage limits should be read in terms of bot messages, not contacts: plans provide unlimited contacts, while message allowances vary. A bot message counts sends, typing indicators, delay steps, and external API calls, so those steps can draw on an allowance even when they are not a conventional text reply.

Pricing

ChatbotX is freemium. The Community plan is free at $0 /Month and includes one workspace, unlimited bot messages, contacts, channels, and AI agents. Its listed audience is individuals and hobbyists. The listed Community allowance also includes team admins; the plan details do not specify a number of team members.

Paid plans are billed monthly. Lite costs $29 /Month, includes one workspace, 10,000 bot messages, unlimited contacts, five channels, and two team members, and offers a 14-day free trial. Pro costs $49 /Month, includes one workspace, 100,000 bot messages, unlimited contacts, 10 channels, and five team members, and offers a 7-day free trial.

For agency and larger deployments, Whitelabel costs $299 /Month and includes 20 workspaces, 2,000,000 bot messages, unlimited contacts, channels, and team members, with a 7-day free trial. Enterprise costs $299 /Month and includes unlimited workspaces, bot messages, contacts, channels, and team members, plus audit logs. A trial is not listed for Enterprise.

Managed cloud plans require a credit card for a trial, but no charge is made during the trial. Users can cancel before it ends or cancel at any time from the dashboard. Payment runs through Stripe checkout, which supports Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and JCB. Support options vary by plan and include Discord, priority chat, 24/7 priority, and enterprise support.

Platforms

The listed platform is self-hosted. ChatbotX also describes managed cloud plans, including the trial and payment terms noted above. Teams considering self-hosting should weigh the stated data and system control against the work of operating the platform on their own infrastructure; no further infrastructure requirements are specified here.

Who it's for

Community is positioned for individuals and hobbyists who want a free entry point with unlimited bot messages, channels, contacts, and AI agents in one workspace. Lite targets creators and small teams with a defined message, channel, and team-member allowance. Pro is positioned for power freelancers and solo marketers, while Whitelabel targets growing marketing agencies that need multiple workspaces and client resale. Enterprise supplies unlimited listed workspaces and usage, along with audit logs.

Across these groups, ChatbotX is most relevant to builders who need multi-channel bots, human handoff, shared inbox collaboration, or self-hosting and white-label options. The pricing model makes expected message volume important: a message allowance may be consumed by sends as well as workflow steps and external API calls.

Unlimited contacts are included across the listed plans, and the Community plan includes unlimited bot messages.
White-label resale, developer integrations, team collaboration, and shared inboxes support agency and team workflows.

Cons

Paid plans have defined bot-message allowances, and the message definition includes workflow actions and external API calls.
Lite and Pro limit channels and team members; the Enterprise plan is also listed at $299 /Month, the same price as Whitelabel, but with different workspace and allowance terms.
Trial lengths vary between Lite and Pro, and managed cloud trials require a credit card.
Support varies by plan, so the specific support level needs to be checked against the intended tier.

Verdict

ChatbotX brings bot creation, AI and knowledge-base answering, human handoff, and multi-channel operations into an open-source product that can be self-hosted or white-labeled. Its Community plan is unusually generous on the listed message and channel limits, while paid tiers trade higher message allowances and workspace counts for monthly fees. The main decision points are operational: whether a team wants to manage its own infrastructure, how its workflows count toward bot messages, and which channel, team, and support limits fit its needs. For teams whose priorities align with those terms, ChatbotX offers a clearly tiered route from a free workspace to agency resale and enterprise-scale allowances.
