Overview

Cutout.Pro combines background removal and replacement with manual correction, batch processing, and API access. It is best suited to people and teams processing product or other image assets who want several ways to work with the service, from a free preview to desktop batches or an API workflow. Its credit system gives a clear cost per HD download, but buyers should match the recurring subscription allowance to their volume and purchase channel.

Uploads can be JPG, PNG, WEBP, or BMP, up to 15 MB and 4096 × 4096 pixels; downloads are PNG or JPG. Each upload gets a low-resolution, watermark-free preview without an account or credits. An HD download uses one credit. Cutout.Pro says images are processed securely, deleted automatically, and not stored or shared.

Key features

Removal and replacement: Background removal covers the core task, while replacement backgrounds let users prepare an image for a different setting without switching tools.
Manual refinement: The Erase & Restore brush can repair missed background or clipped foreground areas. That is useful when an automatic cutout needs correction, though it still leaves the user responsible for refining the image.
Batch processing: Batch processing supports higher-volume work; the Windows and Mac desktop apps can process folders, a practical fit for teams handling sets of images rather than one upload at a time.
API access: An API option gives developers a route to connect background processing to existing workflows. Cutout.Pro also supports Android, iOS, web, Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Pricing

The free preview is the lowest-friction way to check a result, but it is low resolution and does not include an HD download. New accounts receive 5 credits without a credit card; each credit covers one HD image. For occasional use, pay-as-you-go avoids a monthly subscription, while subscriptions suit predictable recurring volume. The page states that subscription credits can roll over up to five times the monthly budget.

Subscriptions, billed monthly: 80 credits/month for 5.00 USD per month; 170 for 9.90 USD per month; 300 for 16.90 USD per month; 550 for 29.00 USD per month; 1000 for 49.00 USD per month; or 1450 for 69.00 USD per month. The 80-credit tier is the entry point for regular use; larger allowances fit steadily higher monthly throughput.
Pay as you go: 30 credits for 4.99 USD per month; 300 for 39.00 USD per month; 900 for 79.00 USD per month; 3000 for 199.00 USD per month; 30000 for 1399.00 USD per month; or 5000000 for 37500.00 USD per month. These packages let buyers use credits at their own pace, making them more suitable when demand varies than a fixed monthly allowance.

Main-platform credit purchases have a 14-day refund guarantee. Credits bought through the Shopify App are non-refundable, so the purchase channel matters. Teams should also size their choice against actual HD download volume: previews are free, but finished HD images consume credits one by one.

Platforms

Cutout.Pro is available on Android, iOS, web, Windows, Mac, and Linux, and offers API access. Its Windows and Mac desktop apps add folder-based batch processing. That breadth gives teams multiple routes into the service, although the stated desktop batch capability is specific to those two desktop platforms.

Who it's for

Cutout.Pro is a strong fit for ecommerce operators, content teams, and developers who need background cleanup across a stream of images, want replacement backgrounds or manual correction, and value an API or desktop batch workflow. The free preview and five signup credits help evaluate the output before committing. It is less compelling for occasional users who need only a few HD downloads if they would prefer a fully free workflow, or for teams whose image pipeline does not need background removal.

Pros and cons

Pro: A watermark-free preview needs no account or credits, so users can inspect a result before spending on HD output.
Pro: The Erase & Restore brush addresses both missed background and clipped subject areas, giving users a way to correct common cutout problems.
Pro: API access and folder-based desktop batching accommodate both integrated and manual high-volume workflows.
Con: HD downloads are credit-metered, so frequent use requires tracking allowance and buying an appropriate package.
Con: Shopify App credits are excluded from the 14-day refund guarantee, reducing purchase flexibility for users buying through that channel.
Con: The free preview is low-resolution; it is useful for checking a cutout, not a substitute for an HD deliverable.

Alternatives

Real-ESRGAN is a free, open-source option for readers who prefer software they can self-host across Linux, Mac, or Windows rather than a credit-based service. TensorPix may fit teams focused on video enhancement or property-photo projects: it has a free tier with weekly login credits, six property photos per project, input up to 720p, and 1 GB storage. HitPaw VikPea is another freemium option, with a 1 Month License at 43.19 USD per month that automatically renews and can be cancelled any time; its paid license is for Windows.

neural.love is an API-only paid alternative. NextGenUp is a free, open-source option for readers looking at a different image tool. UpscaleAI offers a web-based free tier with 10 credits per month. Readers comparing adjacent categories can also browse Image Background Removal Software, AI Background Generators, AI Object Removal Tools, Green Screen Software, AI Photo Colorization Software, and AI Video Upscalers.

Verdict

Choose Cutout.Pro if your team needs background removal and replacement at scale, with correction tools plus API or desktop batch access. Its free preview lowers the cost of evaluating results, and its per-image credit rule is straightforward. Look elsewhere if HD credit purchases and recurring allowances do not suit your volume, or if Shopify is your purchase route and refund flexibility matters.
