Overview

Free.ai Text to Video combines text- and image-to-video generation with API access, motion effects and MP4 export. It suits builders who want to generate clips through an API and scale usage across token-based monthly plans. Commercial use is supported, but the stated maximum video length of 0.1 has no unit, making it hard to judge whether the output fits a particular workflow.

Key features

Both text prompts and images can be used to generate video, giving teams two starting points for an automated or creative workflow. AI motion effects add another video-making option, while MP4 export provides a familiar output format. API access is the clearest fit for teams integrating generation into their own products or processes; this is not a broad platform choice for teams that require a stated web interface.

Commercial use is supported, an important distinction for teams producing material for business purposes. The maximum length value of 0.1 is not interpretable without a unit, so buyers should not assume it means seconds, minutes or any particular clip duration.

Pricing

The free plan is free. It resets 30,000 tokens every 24 hours, but permits only 1 video clip every two days. That makes it useful for occasional evaluation, not a dependable clip-production quota.

Basic costs 5.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 250,000 tokens/month and 10,000 API requests/month. Starter is 9.00 USD per month, billed monthly, with 500,000 tokens/month and the same 10,000 API requests/month. Starter doubles the token allowance without increasing the request cap, so Basic is the more economical fit when request volume is the constraint.

Pro costs 19.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 1,250,000 tokens/month and 100,000 API requests/month. It suits a workflow needing both a larger generation allowance and more API calls. Business costs 49.00 USD per month, billed monthly, and raises the allowance to 6,250,000 tokens/month and 1,000,000 API requests/month; it also includes unlimited team seats, making it the first stated tier with explicit multi-seat terms.

Team costs 99.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 15M tokens/month and unlimited team seats. Enterprise costs 499.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 100M tokens/month and unlimited seats. Enterprise+ costs 2499.00 USD per month, billed monthly, for 750M tokens/month and unlimited seats.

Platforms

The platform is API-based. Mobile apps are available for both major mobile ecosystems, and output is exported as MP4. Teams seeking a stated web platform should weigh that against alternatives that explicitly offer web access.

Who it's for

Free.ai is best suited to developers and teams that want text- or image-driven video generation inside an API-based workflow, need commercial use, and can choose a plan by token and request volume. The free tier can support limited experimentation, while Business and above add unlimited team seats. It is a weaker fit when predictable clip duration is essential or when a team needs a documented per-seat structure on smaller paid plans.

Pros and cons

Pros

Supports both text-to-video and image-to-video, accommodating more than one generation input.
API access, commercial use and MP4 export address practical integration, usage-rights and delivery needs.
Monthly token allowances scale from 250,000 on Basic to 750M on Enterprise+, with unlimited team seats on Business and larger tiers.

Cons

The free tier allows only 1 video clip every two days, limiting sustained evaluation.
The stated maximum length, 0.1, has no unit, leaving duration suitability unclear.
Unlimited seats are stated only from Business upward, and API request quotas are given only through Business.

Alternatives

Choose Hedra if web access matters alongside API access: it has both, a free plan, and a Basic tier at 20.00 USD per month with 2,000 credits/month, slower generations and commercial use. Consider Immersity AI for API-based image animation: its free plan offers unlimited conversions up to 720p, but those conversions are watermarked and non-commercial. Viggle is an API alternative with a free allowance of 5 videos/day, one simultaneous generation and seven-day asset and generation storage.

Higgsfield offers API and web access, a free plan, and a Basic tier at 9.00 USD per month with 120 credits. Nero AI Face Animation is an API and web option with a free trial of 10 credits; standard video generation costs 2 credits and Nero AI Plus generation costs 4.

For a photo-animation use case rather than a general video-generation workflow, Deep Nostalgia offers several free general animations with a free MyHeritage sign-up, across Android, iOS and web. Motionleap is a mobile editing alternative for Android and iOS, with some tools free and additional Pro tools requiring an in-app purchase. Browse Photo Animation Software for more options in that category, or AI video generators for a broader comparison.

Verdict

Choose Free.ai Text to Video if you need API-connected text- and image-to-video generation, commercial use and a token plan that can scale to large volumes. Its strongest case is the combination of generation modes, API access and explicit monthly quotas. Look elsewhere if clip duration must be clear before adoption, or if your team needs web access and transparent API limits at the highest tiers.
