Overview

DRevitalize is a drive utility for Windows users trying to diagnose a small number of bad sectors on magnetic media. Its combination of surface tests and drive controls is unusually broad for that job, but the repair scope is narrow and the project is on hold.

Founded in 2004, the software targets hard drives and some floppy drives with minor physical surface damage. Its repair method applies sequences of high and low signals around damaged areas in an attempt to restore bad sectors. That makes it a focused recovery attempt, not a dependable answer to widespread damage.

Key features

Users can choose scan-only checks, scan-and-repair read tests, or scan-and-repair write tests. The distinction is consequential: write testing writes to the drive, so it is not simply a more thorough version of a read-only scan. The FAQ frames the intended workload as a few bad sectors, not hundreds or thousands.

DRevitalize also includes SMART analysis, raw-data copying, secure erase, Format Unit, ATA security functions and Device Configuration Overlay controls. Clear defect reassign is supported for Western Digital, Samsung, Fujitsu and Toshiba drives. These functions offer useful drive-level control, though they do not expand the software's stated repair target.

It can check and modify SSD parameters, but cannot truly repair a defective SSD sector; it can reallocate that sector. Buyers seeking SSD sector repair should choose another approach. USB-connected ATA/SATA drives work best through bridges that support SATL and ATA pass-through commands, so compatibility depends partly on the bridge hardware.

The site lists v4.10 for Windows and UEFI, with demo downloads for Windows, UEFI and DOS. The Windows software is designed for Windows 10; version 4.0 requires at least Windows Vista and .NET Framework 4.6. UEFI needs a 64-bit system and recent BIOS. The maker says installers and executables are checked with several antivirus and anti-spyware engines, and registered Windows versions do not send serial numbers or internet IPs when checking for updates.

Pricing

License ordering is no longer available, and the project is on hold. That makes DRevitalize a poor fit for teams that need to buy a license now or rely on an actively progressing product.

Plan	Price	What it means
DRevitalize 1.2 Light/DOS freeware	0.00 USD per free	An older DOS release, rather than the current v4.10 line.

The license terms distinguish individual and organizational use: a single-site license allows use on one computer at a time, while a company/business license permits use across compatible company computers and employees. Support is provided by email at support@drevitalize.com.

Platforms

The current release is listed for Windows and UEFI, while demo downloads also cover DOS. The freeware plan is DOS, despite its platform field being Windows. UEFI's 64-bit and recent-BIOS requirements, and the Windows version's operating-system and .NET requirements, narrow deployment options for older systems.

Who it's for

DRevitalize suits a Windows or UEFI user investigating a few bad sectors on a magnetic drive who can distinguish read-only checks from repair tests. It is not the right choice for widespread surface damage, SSD sector repair, or organizations that need a currently orderable license.

Pros and cons

Pros: Multiple scan and repair modes let users choose between inspection and more interventionist tests.
Pros: SMART, raw-data copying, secure erase and ATA configuration tools extend its usefulness beyond surface scanning.
Cons: Its intended repair workload is only a few bad sectors, not extensive damage.
Cons: SSD sectors cannot be truly repaired, and USB drive results depend on compatible SATL and ATA pass-through bridges.
Cons: License ordering is unavailable while the project is on hold, undermining it as a purchase for supported ongoing use.

Verdict

Choose DRevitalize if you need a targeted attempt to address a few bad sectors on magnetic media and its drive controls match your workflow. Its repair focus is the main reason to consider it; the narrow damage scope, lack of true SSD sector repair and unavailable license ordering are strong reasons to look elsewhere.
