Overview

Zoho Connect is an organizational network that combines team communication with collaboration and company knowledge tools. It suits teams that want these functions in one service, especially those already using Zoho apps. Its main caveat is that the stated free-plan user limit differs between plan descriptions, so confirm the applicable cap before rolling it out.

Key features

Communication and collaboration

Feeds, direct messages, group chat, channels, announcements, polls, questions, and forums cover both updates and discussion. Groups add dedicated spaces for team conversations, file sharing, and task management. That range can serve organizations that need a shared social layer as well as focused team spaces; teams looking only for messaging may find the broader package unnecessary.

Tasks and company knowledge

Tasks and boards let teams assign responsibilities and track project progress. Manuals and articles give organizations a place to organize reference material and policies, including guidance on leave, hiring, training, and ethics. This makes Connect useful as a workplace hub, though its task features are described as part of that wider offering rather than as a specialized project-management product.

AI, integrations, and controls

Zia provides writing assistance, sentiment analysis, post summaries, and town hall highlights. Integrations include Zoho apps, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Jira, and Zapier; Zoho Flow can connect Connect with 200+ business apps. This is a practical fit for teams whose tools are already in that ecosystem. Zoho describes encryption, invitation-based membership, granular user-data controls, password-protected exports, and GDPR compliance. For HIPAA, Zoho says Connect does not handle protected health information for its own purposes and that this supports an organization's compliance; that statement is not a substitute for evaluating the organization's own obligations.

Additional workplace tools

Connect includes an employee directory, news publishing, a page builder, SSO support, and audience targeting. These broaden its appeal for organizations managing internal communications, though buyers should weigh them against the needs of teams that want a narrower tool.

Pricing

Zoho Connect is freemium, with a free plan and paid plans billed monthly or yearly. The stated paid starting price is $0.40/user/mo (annual). The Free plan is free and is described in the plan comparison as supporting up to 5 users. A Zoho help page describes a post-trial free plan for up to 25 users, with active groups, boards, manuals, and custom apps capped at three each. Because those caps differ, confirm which free-plan terms apply to your account before relying on it for a team rollout.

Starter has custom pricing and is for 25 users, with 25 GB file storage and 10 Zoho app integrations. It may suit a smaller organization that needs a defined team size and storage allocation. Enterprise has custom pricing, starts at 10 users, and includes 2 GB file storage per member; Ultimate also has custom pricing, starts at 10 users, and includes 2 GB per member. Both are billed monthly or yearly, with yearly billing saving up to 20%. These entry conditions and per-member storage make the larger plans more relevant to organizations planning around those minimums than to very small teams. Classic support is free; Premium Support for Enterprise and Ultimate costs 20% of the license fee and provides a stated three-hour response time, with weekday 24-hour email and live chat coverage. A free trial is available.

Platforms

Connect is available on web, Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux, with desktop downloads for the three desktop operating systems and native mobile apps. An API is also listed, which gives teams an integration route beyond its named app connections.

Who it's for

Zoho Connect is a strong candidate for organizations that want employee communication, team spaces, task tracking, and internal reference material together, particularly those already using Zoho apps or Zoho Flow. Its directory, publishing, page-building, SSO, and audience-targeting features also suit internal communications needs. Teams that need a specialized project-management system, or that cannot confirm the free-plan cap and paid-plan fit for their intended deployment, should compare alternatives before committing.

Pros and cons

Pros: Communication spans feeds, chats, channels, forums, and announcements, giving teams multiple formats for updates and discussion.
Pros: Groups, boards, tasks, manuals, and policy articles bring collaboration and company knowledge into the same service.
Pros: Zoho Flow connects Connect with 200+ business apps, alongside integrations such as Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, Jira, and Zapier.
Cons: The stated free-plan caps conflict: one description says up to 5 users, while a post-trial help page says up to 25 and limits several active features to three each.
Cons: Starter, Enterprise, and Ultimate have custom pricing, so the listed annual starting rate alone does not establish the cost for a particular team.
Cons: Enterprise and Ultimate start at 10 users, and each provides 2 GB file storage per member, which may not match smaller teams or heavier file needs.

Alternatives

Intranet Software is a useful category comparison if you want to survey more options. Consider Silverpeas if a self-hosted option is preferable and your organization can provide IT skills and hosting; its free offer excludes additional modules and support is via mailing. Appspace Intranet has a free plan with two Premium Users, one Appspace Device ID, 5GB storage, 5GB monthly bandwidth, and up to two admins, which may fit a small pilot with those limits. HubEngage offers a free Starter plan for up to 200 users with communications, social, recognitions, surveys, and instant messaging; it is worth considering when those listed functions and its larger free user cap are the priority.

Open Intranet may suit teams seeking a free, self-hosted community edition with all features, no licensing fees, and no user limits. Akumina is a paid alternative. Axero may suit teams looking for workspaces and groups, communication, content management, notifications, task management, and gamification. eXo Platform is another paid option, with listed Silver and Gold plans. MangoApps may be a fit for organizations of 200 employees or more seeking its Communications & Intranet plan, priced at 9.00 USD per month.

Verdict

Choose Zoho Connect if your organization wants communication, collaboration, task coordination, and company knowledge in one workplace service, especially when Zoho integrations are useful to your stack. Its broad mix is the main reason to choose it; the unclear free-tier cap and custom pricing on the named paid plans are the reasons to verify fit or look elsewhere before scaling.
